Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using Zolt, buying a license, and understanding what the beta product does and does not promise.

Last updated: August 25, 2026

01

Who these terms cover

These Terms of Service govern your access to the Zolt website, desktop app, beta builds, license keys, and related support. By accessing, purchasing, or using Zolt, you agree to these terms.

Zolt is single-user desktop database software. Current v0.x builds are pre-release software and may contain defects or incomplete features.

02

Licenses and permitted use

Community may be used for personal and commercial work under the published open-tab limits. The paid One-time License removes those limits for one named user, includes commercial use, and includes one year of updates.

An individual paid license is for one named user and may be activated on up to two devices. License keys may not be resold, shared publicly, or used to bypass plan limits. Zolt does not currently offer shared workspaces, role administration, or a Team plan.

03

Payments, renewals, and cancellation

Paid licenses are sold by Polar as merchant of record. Prices are shown in USD and taxes may apply based on your location. Polar's checkout terms and privacy notice also apply to the transaction.

The One-time License is a one-time purchase with one year of updates included. After the included update year ends, you may keep using builds released within that window without paying again. The optional Updates Renewal is $49/year for newer builds. Renewal terms are shown at checkout through Polar. You can cancel future renewal charges through Polar or by contacting unclegrape1975@gmail.com from the license email address.

04

Your databases, credentials, and AI keys

Zolt connects from your device to databases you configure. You are responsible for having permission to access those databases and for backing up important data before making changes.

Database credentials are designed to stay in your operating system keychain, with an encrypted local vault as fallback. Zolt does not sell AI usage, proxy AI requests, or include AI credits. If you enable AI features, you bring your own provider key and your provider bills you directly.

05

Production use and data changes

Zolt can run SQL and database operations that change, overwrite, or delete data. Use least-privilege database accounts, review generated SQL before running it, test risky workflows on non-production databases first, and keep independent backups of important data.

Zolt includes safeguards for query review, read-only workflows, confirmations, and local history where available, but those safeguards cannot prevent every driver bug, database bug, network failure, incorrect query, permission mistake, or user error.

06

Acceptable use

Do not use Zolt to access systems without authorization, disrupt services, distribute malware, evade security controls, violate law, or infringe another party's rights.

We may suspend or revoke access to paid features if a license is fraudulent, abused, refunded, charged back, or used in a way that materially harms Zolt, other users, or third parties.

07

Beta changes and availability

Zolt may change during beta. Features, limits, supported databases, pricing, and release dates can change as the product matures.

We work to keep the app reliable, but Zolt is provided without uptime guarantees. You should not rely on beta builds as the only way to access production systems.

08

Ownership

Zolt, the website, logos, product design, code, and documentation are owned by the Zolt operator or its licensors. These terms grant you a limited right to use the product; they do not transfer ownership.

Feedback may be used to improve Zolt without restriction or compensation, but you keep ownership of your own data, queries, schemas, and database content.

09

Disclaimers and limits

Zolt is provided as is and as available, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, error-free operation, or that every query or database change will produce the result you intended, to the maximum extent allowed by law.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Zolt operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, downtime, business interruption, security incidents outside reasonable control, or database changes made through the app.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Zolt operator's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to Zolt is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Zolt in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability or consumer rights that cannot be limited by law. If a jurisdiction does not allow a limitation or exclusion, that limitation applies only to the maximum extent permitted there.

10

Mandatory rights and local law

Some regions give consumers mandatory rights for digital content, refunds, privacy, security, or unfair contract terms. These terms are not intended to waive rights that cannot legally be waived.

If you buy Zolt for a business, you are responsible for ensuring the product, your database permissions, and your operating procedures meet your organization's compliance, backup, security, procurement, and change-management requirements.

11

General

The desktop application binary is additionally licensed under the Zolt End-User License Agreement shown at install or activation. If the EULA and these terms conflict for the desktop app, the EULA controls for the app itself.

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.

12

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to unclegrape1975@gmail.com. Billing questions should include the license email address and Polar order number when available.
